Our Training Components in Hair Cutting & Styling

Precision One-Length and Blunt Cutting Techniques

Students begin with foundational straight-line cutting to understand balance and perimeter control. Emphasis is placed on body positioning, sectioning discipline, and clean lines. Structured repetition ensures consistent tension, allowing for symmetrical results adaptable across various densities and natural growth patterns.

Layering, Graduation, and Weight Distribution Mastery

Advanced elevation, overdirection, and graduation methods create movement and customized shape. Students learn how to control weight placement and silhouette. Understanding vertical and horizontal sectioning ensures predictable results when creating layered structures for diverse hair textures and client preferences.

Texturizing and Razor Cutting Techniques

Controlled texturizing reduces bulk while maintaining structural integrity. Students practice point cutting, slide cutting, razor detailing, and blending strategies. Training emphasizes precision and restraint to avoid over-thinning while enhancing softness, movement, and natural flow within the finished style.

Professional Blowouts and Thermal Styling Applications

Round brush tension control, airflow direction, heat settings, and finishing refinement are practiced consistently. Students master sleek smoothing, volume-building, and shape-defining techniques. Thermal tool education reinforces curl longevity, polished presentation, and controlled styling outcomes suited to modern trends.

Cutting and Styling Curly and Textured Hair

Shrinkage management, curl pattern recognition, and dry versus wet cutting strategies are introduced. Students learn to respect natural texture while creating flattering shapes. Specialized approaches ensure healthy results without compromising curl definition or structural integrity.

Trend-Driven Styling and Finishing Techniques

Modern silhouettes, fringe shaping, soft layers, and lived-in texture trends are analyzed and practiced. Students adapt foundational technique to evolving industry demands. Education emphasizes maintaining structure while incorporating current styling movements influenced by fashion and digital media.

So many things about the shop I like! Early morning, appointments, friendly staff, and clean salon to name a few. New to the area and looking for a haircut, I met with Tessa right on time and she did a great job listening to what I was looking for. I scheduled a dry haircut because I have some curl/body to my hair. She spent time asking me questions and making sure I was happy with the finished cut. I definitely will be back!

Bailey is phenomenal!!!! She has mastered blonde hair and isn’t afraid to be honest about what will look best. I trust her judgment and never regret it. She also blended my extensions so well that most people can’t even tell!

Highly recommend! I ABSOLUTELY love my hair! Hannah was amazing, she listened to my wants and dislikes. She was engaging and very friendly/ personable/ professional during my entire visit. I was in search of a new salon and I have definitely found it! Hannah even has appointments at 5pm available for us working moms!

TESSA SAVED ME!!! No but seriously, I got a haircut I didn’t ask for and didn’t like from another salon and was just miserable. After several not so great cuts I was desperate to find a salon and stylist that got me. I called Pavia and they understood my “emergency” and told me Tessa could help me that same evening. AND SHE DID! Not only did she correct the cut into a flattering shape and style for my face and lifestyle, but she elevated my color to this beautiful lived-in blonde. You can see in my face from the before and after how much better I felt after sitting in Tessa’s chair. 10/10 would recommend, the third salon I’ve been to in Lynchburg and BY FAR the best!

Megan S.

Clean and comfortable environment. Very pleasant and welcoming staff. I saw Makinzee today for the second time. She washed my hair and did a men's cut. But more importantly, she took the time to listen to what I was looking for in the cut and noted my concerns. She was patient, careful and professional. Makinzee did such a good job I've been getting compliments all day and it very likely stirred up some more business headed your way. Thank you and I look forward to next time.

Jonathan R.

Hannah did my hair and I’m 10/10 OBSESSED! I got a shampoo, cut and blowout. I cut like 8 inches of my hair off which is a big deal to us girls with long hair. I showed Hannah what I wanted and was excited for; she did exactly what I was dreaming of! She is super nice and easy to talk to as well. I will definitely be returning and recommending!
